BZP & TFMPPs

BZP is a synthesized chemical, originally used in the 1950s as a worm treatment for cattle. Its use was discontinued after concerns were raised over its side effects. Its usefulness was reassessed in the 1970s when trials were conducted to measure its functionality as an antidepressant. It was also abandoned for this purpose after concerns were raised over possible abuse issues due to the drug’s similarities to amphetamines. BZP falls within the Piperazine family and is frequently mislabelled as having been derived from the pepper plant. It shares similar chemical properties to Piperines, actual pepper derivatives, although all drugs within the Piperazine class are, in fact, synthesized.
